Mark Engelman began his career in research pharmacology, obtaining his BSc at Kings College London in 1984, before studying Law at City University and Inns of Court, and being called to the Bar in 1989. He has worked in a legal capacity for Clifford Chance, Dunlop Slazenger, The Body Shop, IP Chambers, and Commercial Chambers. During these tenures he became one of the most respected intellectual property counsels in the United Kingdom, acting in many high-profile cases for well-known brands and individuals.
